‘Caprica’ Set to Return to SyFy January ’11

Posted on January 7th, 2011

Archived; click post to view.
Excerpt: Oh SyFy, why do you give me such tsuris? First the popular theory was that we would have to wait until October of 2010 to watch the second half of the awesome first season of ‘Caprica.’ Now there has apparently been a change and we have to wait until January of 2011? That’s a year after the first half was broadcast. What the frak?I will cut them some slack. It’s probably not easy making such a kick-ass show and there’s a good chance that it’s a rewrite or technical glitch that requires some reshoots to…

Sam Raimi Will Drag Wyatt Earp to the Post-Apocalypse

Posted on January 7th, 2011

Archived; click post to view.
Excerpt: I love me some Sam Raimi.I love me some westerns.I love me some movies set in the post-apocalypse.Therefore, if my math works out right, I’m in love with the idea of Raimi making Earp: Saints For Sinners, which transplants legendary lawman Wyatt Earp to a ruined future world, where he teams up with his brothers and Doc Holiday to run crime out of the city of Las Vegas. Like most movies these days, Earp is based on a comic book, although this is a still-unpublished comic book, so we’re unable to make a wager on quality. At least not yet.Raimi’s…

She’s Got It Where It Counts, Kid: The Millennium Falcon Guitar

Posted on January 7th, 2011

Two days ago we saw the Cthulkhelele, and today we’ve got the… Millennium Faltar? Guitennium Falcon? I’m not sure, but whatever you call it, I’m sure we can all agree that it’s pretty fantastic. There’s an interview with the guitar’s maker, Travis, over on urlesque, as well as additional pictures (he’s even rigged it to light up!).

Now if we can just convince Travis to come to Austin to perform a Star-Wars-themed concert on Kayla Kromer’s Millennium Falcon bed…

Alan Moore Turned Down Rights to ‘Watchmen’

Posted on January 7th, 2011

Archived; click post to view.
Excerpt: Some speculation reared its head around the time of Zack Snyder’s film adaptation of Watchmen, that DC Comics was looking to spin-off the beloved comic mini-series into a brand-new series of prequels and sequels. Turns out the speculation was true, and that the projects were offered to writer Alan Moore by DC in exchange for the rights to the original series.”They offered me the rights to Watchmen back, if I would agree to some dopey prequels and sequels,” Moore told Wired. “So I just told them that if they said that 10 years ago, when I asked them for that,…

And the new Judge Dredd will be Played by …

Posted on January 7th, 2011

Archived; click post to view.
Excerpt: Popular rumor is that the lead role for the new ‘Judge Dredd’ movie will be offered to Karl Urban, best known to the movie-going public as Dr. Leonard “Bones” McCoy in the ‘Star Trek’ 2009 relaunch. Would he be better or worse than Sylvester Stallone? Should he be offered the part, we’ll certainly find out.Despite the crap quality of the 90′s flick, I actually thought Stallone was a good casting choice. He’s got the right kind of chin for it. On the other hand, Urban is a bit of a geek god having been in such…

Watch This: Taiwan Explains Antennagate With CGI

Posted on January 7th, 2011

Archived; click post to view.
Excerpt: Next Media Animation is an animation studio in Taiwan known for depicting the news through sometimes bizarre (and always rudimentary) CGI animations. And although the company has had more than its fair share of strange news-related videos, its recent 2-minute “explanation” of the iPhone 4 Antennagate non-scandal may be the strangest yet. In the course of 120 seconds, NMA gives the history of Apple’s rise to prominence, shows a Jedi lightsaber battle between Steve Jobs and Bill Gates, discusses reports of labor abuses in China, and explains how Jobs’ “reality distortion field” works. Seriously. Check out the video after…
