Posted on February 25th, 2011

There’s a wealth of Super Bowl trailers expected during the big game between the Packers and the Steelers, but Jon Favreau’s ‘Cowboys and Aliens’ trailer — featuring Daniel Craig and Harrison Ford in a sci-fi-Western showdown — was the first one out of the gate. (Favreau released it style=”position: relative; width: 500px; height: 375px; margin: 0pt; padding: 0pt;”>

‘Transformers 3′ Super Bowl Trailer: More Digital Mayhem
Posted on February 25th, 2011

The Super Bowl teaser promises that the world will “go dark” in the third (and potentially final) ‘Transformers’ flick (the ominously titled ‘Transformers: Dark of the Moon‘) — but then we’d be robbed of the digital lunacy style=”position: relative; width: 500px; height: 375px; margin: 0pt; padding: 0pt;”>
Scheduled for release on July 1, penned by Ehren Kruger, and (of course) directed by Michael Bay, ‘Transformers: Dark of the Moon‘ is guaranteed to be a smash hit, despite the noted lack of Megan Fox.

‘Super 8′ Trailer: It’s ‘E.T.’ All Over Again

Excerpt: Right away Steven Spielberg’s paw prints are all over this brand new trailer for J.J. Abrams’ ‘Super 8′ — a film that, up until now, has been shrouded in mystery. Is it another ‘Cloverfield,’ or is it more like early Spielberg (‘E.T.,’ ‘Close Encounters of the Third Kind’)?The answer appears to be a mix of both. The ‘Super 8′ trailer that debuted during the Super Bowl gives us more than we’ve seen before, and what it amounts to is an action-packed alien flick set inside a small town — except, unlike ‘E.T.,’ this alien doesn’t look all that friendly. That…

Excerpt: Fans looking for big reveals during last night’s Super Bowl movie trailers didn’t get too much to digest, though there were some little pieces of coolness sprinkled throughout the trailers for ‘Super 8′ and ‘Captain America: The First Avenger.’ Anyone who’s a fan of J.J. Abrams knows the guy loves to hide viral nuggets in everything he churns out. The man is a true geek who understands what gets other geeks excited, and so he often goes to great lengths to make his “reveal process” as fun and fresh as the film itself. So, naturally, folks immediately began slowing down the…

‘Star Wars Begins’ Creator on 10 Things You Probably Didn’t Know About ‘Star Wars’
Posted on February 25th, 2011
Archived; click post to view.
Excerpt: On Friday we posted a fantastic, 14-part, fan-made ‘Star Wars’ documentary called ‘Star Wars Begins’ that combs through the first ‘Star Wars’ film with an absurd attention to detail, breaking down and reconstructing scenes, while sprinkling in audio quotes from several people involved behind the scenes and in front of the camera. The doc, which may be better defined as a commentary or fan edit than a straight-up documentary, also brings to the table a number of extremely rare nuggets (like concept art and the original, silent, black-and-white cut of ‘Star Wars’) that are sure to transfix even the most…

Excerpt: We try to stay as optimistic as possible around these parts. Even if we’re not exactly enthused by a particular film attachment — be it in the casting department or behind the scenes — we try to keep an open mind about it. Some news requires you to try just a little bit harder. This is one such story.Shawn Levy has been hired by 20th Century Fox and James Cameron to direct a remake of the classic 1966 sci-fi film ‘Fantastic Voyage.’ Yes, the director of ‘The Pink Panther’ and both ‘Night at the Museum’ films will be shrinking down…
